Construction between two people was fairly simple, within an evening the bookshelf was ready to go! The white bookshelf was pretty, however did have a few yellow stains (unnoticeable really). True to size, not the steadiest bookcase, a little wobbly when heavy items go on the higher shelves or when theres lots of movement on taking heavy things on/off. However it did come with tools to bolt the shelf to the wall, I opted not to as my baseboard didn't allow the shelf to lay flush against the wall.A few months in using the bookshelf: no issues at all.I'm personally not concerned with the sturdiness, but i would be wary if you have hyper pets or small children! It's pretty, spacious and the tall height of each individual shelf is appreciated. Lovely addition to my small bedroom to hold personal belongings and trinkets. For manga fans: you can even put two rows of smaller manga on one shelf :)Putting this together was 90% simple, just screws. Use a drill w/an allen wrench bit and you're set. But I was shaking my head at the utter abandonment of common sense. One of the shelves has a big warning sticker on it that is NOT easy to remove, it tears before it peels. Had to use Goo-Gone on the shelf. Then the instructions for putting the skirt boards on the TOP piece made zero reference of how far recessed the front board should be. Something so particular w/o mention is just...crazy. The open design is good and bad--you can get behind the books and this helps arrange them, but because it's tall the top can rock back and forth. If you have kids you might want to follow their warning a-PEEL from the sticker and use the brackets to screw it into the wall studs. For all that absurdity the finished product works. (shrug) Put your heaviest books on the bottom. Plenty of room for tall books; plenty.Technically, this is the second bookcase I've bought. The first I bought from Wayfair, and I absolutely love that bookcase. The Mission style bookcase sold here is the EXACT same bookcase, but costs nearly half of what I paid on Wayfair. I wasn't sure it was the same bookcase, but I saw the pictures and matched the dimension, so my fingers were crossed it was the same. To my delight, when I opened the box and saw the assembly instructions were the exact same, to the letter, I did a little dance. The only difference I've found is that the included hex wrench was a bit shorter than my first bookcase's. The wood, screws, caps and accessories were all the exact same. That being said, my identical bookcase was bought about 6 months ago, and it's extremely sturdy. I have a ton of books on it and it doesn't seem to put any strain on it. It's beautiful and looks like I paid 3 times than the actual cost. Some reviewers here have really nitpicked the hell out of this bookcase, and they obviously don't have a clue how expensive solid wood bookcases that don't have any flaws really cost.Helpful Hints: I bought this bookcase twice in Espresso, which is a dark brown and any nick will show the bare, light wood under the finish. To fix this, I just take a black permanent marker to cover it and immediately rub that area with a dry paper towel. The marker ink sinks into the wood and wiping it immediately removes the marker ink that gets on the finish. The key is small areas and immediately wiping/rubbing it with a paper towel. I'm sure black or brown shoe polish would work just as well, if not better.A good tip learned from Wayfair reviews and used on my first bookcase assembly - use wood glue on the wooden dowels that are on each end of the back shelf braces (the long skinny pieces with wooden 'pegs'). Besides the pegs, also glue any loose slats on the sides. Some will be easy to move and will show the bare wood that was hidden until moved. This makes the bookcase extremely rigid and much stronger. The shelfs do come with pre-drilled pilot holes for the hex bolts, but before you start assembling, screw bolts into the pilot holes to make threads first, then remove the bolts and do the normal assembly. This will help with balancing pieces and getting screws started much easier. Some complained about the finish. Yes, it's not some really layered polyurethane finish. It's wood stain and light semi-gloss finish. If you want it to shine, just use a can/bottle of regular furniture spray wax. It'll make it look like it has 3-4 layers of glossy finish. Again, this bookcase is half the price of similar bookcases, so expecting this to have the same finish as a five hundred dollar shelf is just plain ridiculous.Great for storing books and small boxes.I love this bookshelf so much I have two. They're affordable, look great, and are sturdy enough for all my heavy books. Just don't over tighten the screws or the wood may crack. This was ridiculous to put together and took multiple people at times. But it turned out sturdier than I expected and holds a lot of hobby style board games. I would argue that it is realllllly only two shelves though. This unit is good if you put books on the bottom shelves and plants or ornaments on the upper shelves. You definitely can't load this with books. There is also a big white sticker on the bottom of the top panel that is very difficult to remove.Picked this unit as a replacement fopr a smaller 4 shelf bookcase. It turned out to be perfect. Its a beautiful color in Expresso. It assembles easily. Its sturdy and holds a number of books as well as treasures you may want to show off. Highly recommend a similar unit.Nice but it’s very thin and fragile looking. Shipping took over a month! Hope you aren’t in a hurryLove itLooks nice, very sturdy, and easy to assemble. Great quality, especially for the price point. Would definitely buy one again.
